Portion of Hollywood St. near the Liberty Bowl renamed for Rogers
University and Memphis city officials honored Glenn Rogers Sr. on Friday, Oct. 25 with an official street name. The new Glenn Rogers Sr. Street is located near the Simmons Bank Liberty Stadium where he played football from 1969-1971.
Rogers was the first Black football player to play for Memphis State University, which is now known as the University of Memphis. Rogers said he was happy to receive an official street name and hopes his story has inspired others.
